How Therapy Can Help With Your Anxiety
Anxiety can feel isolating, but therapy can offer relief, clarity, and a path toward greater ease. Together, we can:
- Understand the roots of your anxiety
We’ll explore the life experiences, patterns, and stressors contributing to your anxiety, including how early relationships shaped your coping style. - Learn tools to manage and reduce symptoms
We’ll work on practical strategies to calm your nervous system, manage panic or distress, and feel more present. - Develop a different relationship with anxiety
Instead of fighting anxiety, we’ll cultivate curiosity about what it’s trying to tell you and how you can respond in ways that serve you. - Build resilience and self-trust
Over time, therapy can help you feel safer in the world, better able to face challenges, and more connected to yourself and others.
My Approach to Anxiety Therapy
My approach combines immediate support for distressing symptoms with deeper exploration of what lies beneath. In our work together, we’ll:
Focus first on helping you manage acute anxiety so you can function in your daily life.
Explore when and how anxiety shows up, what triggers it, and what it might be masking, like fear, anger, or sadness.
Identify early patterns, including anxiety-related coping modeled by caregivers, and explore how they shape your experience now.
Explore your values, relationships, and stress responses to uncover new, more adaptive ways of being.
Incorporate practices like mood tracking, mindfulness, or self-soothing techniques tailored to you.
What to Expect in Our First Sessions
In our first four sessions, we’ll take time to get to know you by exploring your history, relationships, coping strategies, and what brings you to therapy. Together, we’ll look for patterns and begin to understand the unique ways anxiety shows up in your life.
Explore Your History
We’ll look at how anxiety has shown up across your life – from childhood and early relationships to current stressors, values, and coping strategies.
Together, we’ll begin to notice patterns that may be keeping you stuck or adding to your distress.
Set Goals
By our fifth session, we’ll start defining therapy goals that feel meaningful to you.
I’ll share my reflections based on what I’ve learned, and we’ll work together to set a course that supports your growth, safety, and well-being.
Review & Iterate
This early work creates a foundation for focused, supportive therapy.
We’ll continue to check in and adjust our plan over time, making sure your therapy evolves with your needs and helps you build a more easeful, resilient relationship with anxiety.
