Online Therapy Throughout CA, NY, & IN
Is In-Person Therapy Not An Option For You?
There are many reasons why in-person therapy sessions aren’t possible or ideal for some clients. I work with many busy, high-achieving people who may not have the time or ability to commute to weekly in-office sessions—and in some cases, they’d just rather experience the benefit of therapy from the safety and comfort of home (or other private, confidential space).
Online therapy is available through my practice. As you make space in your week to learn how to respond to stressors in a more effective, sustainable way, you can worry less, feel better about yourself, and experience more joy and ease in your life.
Telehealth Options Offer An Effective, Accessible Alternative To In-Person Treatment
While teletherapy options have been around for a while, the Covid-19 pandemic forced many therapists to transition to online platforms. Not only does this mean that we now have years of experience working in a virtual therapy setting—we’ve also seen major improvements in effective, secure HIPAA-compliant platforms.
Online therapy is proven to be just as effective as in-person counseling, offering a convenient option to those who may have barriers to attending sessions in the office. No matter what brings you to therapy, or which approaches we incorporate into our work together, online sessions are always a treatment option.

What To Expect In Online Therapy Through My Practice
Before we begin the deeper work of psychodynamic treatment, we will first complete a consultation to make sure that you can participate in teletherapy from a safe, secure location. This means ensuring that you have privacy away from anyone you live with, a strong internet connection, and limited interruptions from emails, texts, and other alerts. All of this is planned with your safety in mind and to reduce the potential for distraction. (Note that it is not safe nor effective to participate in therapy while driving.)
Once these standards are in place, we can begin online therapy using a HIPAA-compliant Zoom platform that can be accessed via a microphone-enabled computer, phone, or tablet.
Frequently Asked Questions About Online Counseling
Will I get the same results from online therapy as I would from in-person counseling?
I’ve been a therapist for a long time, and I can say with confidence that online counseling works really well for many clients. In some cases, teletherapy is the preferred format since it’s more accessible, less logistically complicated, and generally just easier. (There are some instances wherein it is clinically indicated to meet in person, but we will determine the format of therapy during the intake process.)
If an online option is new to you, keep in mind that I am happy to make your first therapy session virtual to see how you like the format. Whether you decide you want to attend counseling online, in person, or as a mix of both, I individualize the treatment process to your needs.
How do I know that our sessions will remain safe, secure, and private?
As a therapist, I am legally and ethically bound to HIPAA guidelines—including when online platforms are involved. Fortunately, Zoom provides an entirely secure, HIPAA-compliant option through which we can have honest, open discussions.
I take security concerns very seriously and will do everything in my power to protect your privacy at all times throughout this process.
Does insurance cover virtual counseling?
In my experience as a therapist, I’ve found that online therapy is generally covered by insurance. While there are rare exceptions, most providers bill for online treatment in a very similar way to in-person counseling (though telehealth is usually coded differently).
That said, I do ask clients to look into their benefits before starting therapy in order to avoid any confusion. You can do this by contacting the Member Services team at your insurance company and finding out if telehealth services are covered within mental and behavioral health.
