What Does Burnout Feel Like?
Burnout can creep in slowly or hit all at once—and it often shows up long after the stress has become unsustainable. It’s more than just being tired. It’s a kind of emotional, mental, and physical depletion that doesn’t go away with a weekend off or a vacation.

Do you find it hard to feel effective, no matter how much you do?
Are you increasingly impatient, irritable, or angry?
Do you feel disconnected from your sense of self or your values?
Physical Signs
Are you always tired, even after resting?
Do you notice tension, headaches, or other physical symptoms of stress?
Has your sleep or appetite changed in ways that don’t feel restorative?
Do you feel depleted or chronically run down?
Behavioral Signs
Are you withdrawing from others or struggling to keep up with daily life?
Do you feel like you’ve lost touch with your boundaries, constantly overextending yourself? Are you turning to habits—like scrolling, overeating, or substances—to numb out?

How Therapy Can Help With Burnout
Burnout can be hard to shift on your own especially when everything in your life still demands your energy. Therapy creates a space where you can slow down, reflect, and start to reconnect with what feels restorative, meaningful, and aligned.
Here’s how therapy can help:
- Understand what’s driving your burnout
Together, we’ll explore the emotional, relational, and structural factors contributing to your exhaustion. - Reconnect with your values and priorities
We’ll look at where your energy is going—and whether that’s aligned with what truly matters to you. - Recover a sense of agency and possibility
Whether you need practical changes, internal shifts, or both, therapy helps you begin to imagine a different way forward.
- Heal your relationship with yourself
We’ll explore the deeper patterns and beliefs that may be keeping you stuck in cycles of overgiving, overworking, or self-neglect.
My Approach to Anxiety Therapy
I take a collaborative, relational approach to therapy that centers your lived experience. I don’t use a rigid or manualized structure instead, I follow your pace, and we focus on what emerges organically in the work.
Explore how burnout is showing up in your life and what’s contributing to it
Examine your relationship with work, achievement, and professional identity
Reflect on whether your current situation is sustainable, and if not, what might need to shift
Look at how past experiences, family dynamics, or internalized beliefs may be shaping how you respond to stress or expectations
Identify parts of your life that feel neglected or undernourished
Support you in setting boundaries or making changes that support your wellbeing
Cultivate self-awareness and self-compassion especially around patterns of overextension
What to Expect in Our First Sessions
Explore Your History
In our first four sessions, I’ll focus on really getting to know you—your story, your relationships, and what’s bringing you in.
We’ll talk about your stressors, how you’re coping, and how your current situation is impacting your sense of self and wellbeing.
Set Goals
By our fifth session, we’ll begin identifying goals together.
I’ll offer some reflections based on what I’ve learned, but the direction we go will be shaped by your input and needs. And as we move forward, we’ll keep checking in and adjusting as needed.
Review & Iterate
This early work lays the foundation for supportive burnout therapy.
As we move forward, we’ll continue to check in and adjust the approach – helping you restore energy, reconnect with yourself, and build a more sustainable rhythm in your life.
